Job Summary :
The Community Group Home Behavioral Technician will play a vital role in supporting individuals with behavioral and physical challenges associated with a traumatic brain injury in a structured community group home environment. This position involves implementing individualized behavior support plans, facilitating daily living skills, and fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere that promotes personal growth and community integration.
Key Responsibilities :
- Direct Support : Provide direct assistance to residents with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and recreational activities.
- Behavior Intervention : Implement behavior support plans under the guidance of mental health professionals to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate records in EHR of resident progress, incidents, and interactions. Complete daily logs and behavior reports as required.
- Communication : Collaborate with team members to ensure a comprehensive approach to each resident’s care.
- Crisis Management : Respond effectively to behavioral crises by using de-escalation strategies and implementing safety protocols as needed.
- Training and Development : Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in behavioral management, communication techniques, and person-centered approaches.
- Community Engagement : Facilitate community involvement and social interactions for residents, promoting independence and life skills in real-world settings.
- Health and Safety : Ensure the safety and well-being of all residents, adhering to health and safety protocols and regulations at all times.
- Commuting patients to and from the main facility as well as community outings using company vehicle.
Qualifications :
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in psychology, social work, or a related field preferred.Registered Behavior Technician preferredExperience : Experience working with individuals with traumatic brain injury, developmental disabilities, mental health issues, or relevant behavioral experience within a group home or residential setting is highly desirable.Group or Community home experience preferredCertifications : CPR and First Aid certification, and any required behavioral intervention certifications (e.g., CPI, PROACT) preferred.Must have clean driving recordMust be 21 years of age or olderSkills :
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work individually and as part of a team.Patience and empathy in dealing with challenging behaviors.Problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.Work Environment :
The position primarily operates in a community group home setting. The Behavioral Technician may be required to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the needs of the residents.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift and move patients or assist with transfers (may involve lifting up to 50 pounds).Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stretch for extended periods during patient care activities.This position has been deemed a safety sensitive position.
