As a Senior Traffic Engineer, you will lead a traffic team through a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for a variety of transportation projects. You will be part of a growing company focused on meeting our clients’ needs, while also solving their problems. The ideal candidate is extremely detail oriented.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
- Conduct operational traffic analysis using tools like Synchro / SimTraffic, Vistro, Vissim and Aimsun analyzing intersections, roundabouts, urban arterials, freeway segments and interchanges
- Design and analysis of striping, signing, signals and lighting, traffic control, ITS, and other construction plans for interstates, freeways, highways, interchanges and intersections, urban and rural roadways, and trails
- Prepare comprehensive traffic impact analysis reports
- Prepare lighting analysis and calculations
- Prepare overhead signing sight line calculations
- Make decisions on design and engineering procedures
- Function as a technical specialist on mid-to-large-scale projects
- Manage multiple traffic tasks and projects within scope, schedule, and budget
- Lead a traffic team through various traffic forecasting, analysis, and design projects
- Prepare clear and accurate studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and estimates from start to finish
- Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder management, and sub-consultant coordination
- Interface with clients including state and local agencies
- Coordinate and conduct meetings with project stakeholders
- Coordinate with office management and project managers to share resources
- Assist in proposal preparation including oral presentations
- Coordinate and work within a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of projects
- Take ownership of projects from start to finish
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies :
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or universityProfessional Engineering (PE) licensure8 - 15+ years’ experience in traffic analysis and traffic engineering designExperience and relationships with transportation agencies are highly preferredHands-on experience with Synchro / SimTraffic, Vistro, Vissim, and AimsunKnowledge and experience with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineeringExperience with DOT's plan preparation procedures and standardsExperience with Local Agency plan preparation procedures and standardsSignificant experience and understanding of local, regional, state, and federal design criteriaExcellent written and oral communication skillsOutstanding interpersonal and customer service skillsSelf-motivated with solid organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to interact with and work cooperatively with clients and multi-disciplinary team membersAbility to multitask while working on many projects at onceWillingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other officesPossess a proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgetsExperience in managing technical staff and project teamsA desire to grow personally and professionally with each project while working in a team environment to create designs and drawings supporting our client's overall project goalWhy would a candidate want this job?
