Purpose
As Senior Database Developer, you will provide technical leadership and management of production and development servers for an Application Development Team that supports Confie’s MGA business (7+- developers, 10+ BA / QA, and 10+ application systems).
Requires DevOps and SQL Server technical experience. Must have strong analytical and communications skills and able to work well in an agile team environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Expertise in Database development, advanced TSQL, Stored Procedure, views, etc.
- Strong knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
- Performance tuning and optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
- Experience managing database backups, restores, and recovery models.
- Experience implementing operational automation using scripts (especially Powershell).
- Strong knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
- Knowledge of implementing security in classified databases.
- Windows server experience, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of SSIS and SSRS
- Strong knowledge of Data warehouse architectures and implementations
- Strong knowledge of Data Mart implementations
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Manage SQL Server and Cache databases through multiple product life-cycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
- Develops and promotes standard operating procedures, evaluates new systems and ensures that all current systems are configured in compliance with applicable security standards ( HIPAA, HITRUST, ISO 27001 / ISO 27799).
- Proactively engages with IT leadership to recommend enhancements and mitigate risks within the environment.
- Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement
- Design and implement procedures for monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions
- Ensure compliance with applicable security standards and requirements
- Conduct Disaster Recovery planning and testing
- Assist with hardware and software evaluations
- Define and document best practices and support procedures
- Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans
- Provide after-hours support for infrastructure related emergencies as well as occasional weekend maintenance
- Provide end-user support and training as needed
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Hands-on experience in the Database Administration field for SQL Server 2005-2014 in both physical and virtual environments
- Hands-on experience with Backups, Restores, DMV's, DBCC commands, SQL Profiler and PerfMon
- Good knowledge of High Availability, Always-On availability groups, Database Mirroring, Replication, Recovery Models, Policy Based Management, and SOX audit
- Ability to detect and troubleshoot SWL Server related CPU, memory, I / O, disk space, and other resources addition
- Bachelor's degree in IT and / or related field of study
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Query Optimization
- Experience in Security Administration, Index Management, and statistical update
- Experience with ELT process and development using Integration Services (SSIS)
- Strong self-sufficiency and initiative in working on Database projects
- Knowledge of Analysis Services (SSAS) and Reporting Services (SSRS) - development and deployment is a plus
- Knowledge of 3rd party backup ande / architecture / technologies is a plus, but not required
- performance diagnosis and monitoring tools from IDERA and Solarwinds is a plus
- Knowledge of Oracle and MySQL database
