Corporate Controller - The Peterson Company

The Peterson Company is a dynamic, growing specialty food distribution company. We are seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead our accounting organization through its next stage of growth, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and operational excellence. This role reports directly to the CFO.

Compensation

Base salary range : $175,000 – $225,000 annually, plus performance bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Objectives & Responsibilities

• Oversee the company’s daily accounting functions.
• Lead and mentor the accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable teams.
• Optimize cash flow to meet company objectives.
• Manage the month‑end close process, ensuring timely reconciliation of key accounts.
• Coordinate and prepare accurate internal and external financial statements.
• Partner with the CFO to establish financial and operational benchmarks, expense controls, and key performance metrics.
• Deliver comprehensive financial reporting and insights to senior leadership in partnership with the Financial Analyst.
• Provide analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision‑making.
• Coordinate the activities of external auditors.
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and policies.
• Evaluate current accounting operations and implement process improvements and best practices.
• Develop, track, and report on financial performance metrics.
• Oversee regulatory compliance, including state and tax reporting.
• Recruit, train, and retain high‑performing accounting staff.
