Job description

The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC) Emergency and Critical Care service – the only level 1 trauma center in the NYC area – is seeking Licensed Veterinary Technicians to join our ECC team. This is a rare opportunity to join the world’s largest veterinary teaching hospital and take your career to the next level.

Ideal candidates will provide exemplary coordinated veterinary clinical and technical patient care and strive to continuously improve the overall quality of patient care in the department. Who wouldn't love a 3-day work week alongside 33 Licensed Veterinary Techinicians in our ECC and counting...soon to be 34 with you!

Duties and Responsibilities :

Support veterinarians in all facets of critical patient care, including triage

Motivated self starter, able to work with minimal supervision

Provide anesthesia support as needs arise

Accurately and in a timely manner complete all necessary technical procedures and treatments, with strict adherence to department and hospital protocols

Be involved in cardiopulmonary arrests and stabilization of critical patients

Assist and instruct interns and residents regarding ICU policies and protocols and perform all other related duties as required.

Support and Provide Dialysis treatment for patients. This includes completion of a training course.

Qualified applicants will have :

NYS veterinary technician’s license / permit or eligibility

One to two years experience as an LVT in a Critical Care environment

Demonstrated ability to provide quality nursing care, technical services and teamwork

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, multi-tasking while paying close attention to details

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, demonstrating a high level of initiative

High proficiency in patient handling and monitoring, supportive therapy, treatments and procedures

Flexibility and the ability to accommodate shift work in a unit that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients, colleagues and referring veterinarians.

Position / Shift Available

Daytime Shift :  Hours : 8 : 00 AM – 8 : 30 PM

  • Position 1 : Schedule : Week 1 : Wednesday, Friday, Saturday Week 2 : Wednesday, Friday, Saturday

Overnight Shift : Hours : 8 : 00 PM – 8 : 30 AM

Position 1 :  Schedule : Week 1 : Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday. Week 2 : Wednesday, Friday, Saturday

Position 2 : Schedule : Week 1 : Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. Week 2 : Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday

Pay Range

$32 — $40 USD
