Job Description

Role Summary

A high-performing maternal and neonatal care program in the Overland Park area is recruiting a Women’s Services Nursing Director to lead operations across a full spectrum of perinatal services. The department manages 3,500 annual births and supports complex, high-acuity obstetric and neonatal populations.

This executive-level nursing role carries responsibility for departmental performance, staffing, quality outcomes, clinical standards, and regulatory readiness across all Women’s Services units.

Key Functions

• Direct maternal and neonatal clinical operations with emphasis on patient safety, regulatory compliance, and high-acuity readiness.

• Oversee staffing strategy, workforce development, performance evaluation, and departmental communication.

• Manage budgets, productivity targets, capital planning, and resource utilization.

• Guide policy development, evidence-based practice adoption, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Partner with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to advance service line performance and family-centered care.

• Support employee engagement, professional growth, and retention efforts through strong leadership practices.

• Maintain 24/7 accountability for service delivery and operational integrity.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of recent leadership experience (manager/director level) in Women’s Services within a large, high-acuity setting.

• Demonstrated oversight of 3,500+ births per year.

• Nursing degree from an accredited program.

• Active RN license (Kansas or Compact).

• Ability to obtain and sustain BLS certification.

• Proven leadership, communication, and organizational competence.

Preferred

• BSN or higher-level nursing degree.

• Specialty certifications in obstetric or neonatal nursing leadership.
