Job Description
Turner & Townsend is seeking a talented Cost Manager to support cost management activities on complex, mission-critical data center construction projects. This onsite role is ideal for professionals with strong analytical skills and a solid foundation in cost planning, estimating, and financial controls, looking to grow their career in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will work closely with senior team members, clients, and project stakeholders to ensure cost efficiency, accurate reporting, and alignment with project goals. Experience with MEP systems and large-scale budgets is highly valued.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain cost plans, budgets, and estimates across all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and client expectations.
- Implement change control procedures, including tracking change orders, assessing cost impacts, and maintaining accurate records.
- Collaborate with design consultants, contractors, and vendors to gather and validate cost data, perform quantity take-offs, and contribute to value engineering efforts.
- Prepare and contribute to monthly cost reports, including variance analysis, forecasting, and executive-level summaries.
- Participate in procurement activities, including scope reviews, bid evaluations, and contract award recommendations.
- Assist in reviewing contractor and subcontractor pricing, and support commercial negotiations under the guidance of senior team members.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of cost management tools, templates, and processes, promoting consistency and efficiency across projects.
- Engage in benchmarking and market analysis to support accurate estimating and strategic decision-making.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, project teams, and external stakeholders, representing Turner & Townsend professionally.
- Participate in team meetings, workshops, and training sessions to support continuous learning and development.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members as needed, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial systems, client requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.36+ years of experience in cost management or project controls, ideally within large-scale, mission critical construction projects (e.g., data centers, high-tech, industrial).Experience in a construction consultancy environment is preferred.Solid understanding of budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.Exposure to procurement processes and commercial contract management.Progress toward RICS accreditation is a plus.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Analytical mindset with attention to detail.Proficiency in industry-standard cost management tools and software.
