The Surgical Services Technician supports operating room and procedural staff by assisting with preparation, setup, and turnover of surgical cases. This role ensures that all equipment, instruments, and supplies are ready and available to maintain a safe and efficient surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the setup of operating rooms and procedural areas, including instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Prepare and maintain sterile and non-sterile supplies for surgical procedures.
Support surgical staff during procedures as directed, including handling instruments and supplies.
Assist with patient positioning and transport to and from the operating or procedural room.
Perform room turnover and cleanup between cases, ensuring proper sanitation and readiness for the next procedure.
Maintain accurate counts of instruments, supplies, and equipment to prevent shortages during procedures.
Monitor inventory of surgical instruments, trays, and supplies; notify supervisors of low stock or equipment issues.
Follow infection control protocols, sterilization standards, and safety procedures.
Assist in troubleshooting minor equipment issues or alert the appropriate personnel when repairs are needed.
Support OR and procedural staff in maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient environment.
Qualifications & Skills
Education / Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; formal surgical technology or healthcare training preferred.
Prior experience in operating room, ambulatory surgery center, or procedural support preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications are a plus.
Skills & Attributes
Knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and sterile techniques.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to anticipate the needs of surgical staff and respond quickly.
Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other staff.
Physical stamina for standing, lifting, bending, and moving equipment and supplies.

Working Conditions & Schedule
On-site role in operating rooms and procedural areas.
Daytime shifts with possible variability depending on surgical schedule; may include early mornings, evenings, or occasional weekends.
