Group Leader For Modern Manufacturing Methodologies Group (E-2)
The Engineering Technology and Design (E) Division is excited to welcome a Group Leader for our Modern Manufacturing Methodologies Group (E-2). In this role, you'll play a key part in shaping the future of mission-driven engineering while being a valued member of the E Division leadership team, reporting directly to the Division Leader. You'll collaborate closely with the Technical Lead for Program Development and the E-2 Deputy Group Leader, providing both strategic vision and hands-on guidance to a talented team. Together, you'll drive the development of innovative engineering technologies that are central to our mission and ensure the successful delivery of program goals. As Group Leader, you'll oversee not only program execution and fiscal stewardship but also help foster a culture of safety, security, and professional growth. What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements :
Leadership Demonstrated experience in technical leadership through line management and / or program development / management functions. Experience leading and inspiring teams by developing and executing a strategic vision, fostering collaboration, exhibiting sound decision making and problem solving, and mentoring and developing team members.
Management Demonstrated record of successful management of a technical team or an organizational group that includes experience in areas such as performance and salary management, staffing, budgeting, infrastructure, and organization of workflows and processes.
Technical Skills Demonstrated record of technical achievement in engineering or a relevant scientific field. Preferred knowledge of one or more of the group's mission areas : decision analysis, risk management, engineering design / analysis, additive manufacturing, material synthesis / modeling / analysis.
Communication & Collaboration Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of Laboratory personnel and external customers. An accomplished record of developing and fostering successful cross-organizational teams. Experience with proposal generation and team building.
Safety and Security Demonstrated experience developing and implementing safety and operational requirements. Demonstrated success in improving workforce safety, security, environment, and health such as through implementing Human Performance Improvement (HPI) and / or Safe Conduct of Research (SCoR) principles, or equivalent techniques.
Education / Experience Position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. A graduate degree in engineering is strongly preferred.
Desired Qualifications :
Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment : Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
