Your Day in This Role
You wake up to a message from a European plant confirming a successful trial of a new additive. Before lunch, you’re reviewing lab data from North America, aligning specifications with R&D and EHS, and preparing insights for leadership. By afternoon, you’re negotiating with a supplier on a greener alternative and finalizing deactivation plans for an outgoing material—ensuring continuity for production teams worldwide. Every day, you own a defined portfolio of raw materials and shape the future of our compounding operations.
Impact You Will Make
- Own and steward assigned raw material categories to optimize performance, cost, and sustainability.
- Lead qualification and rollout of new or replacement raw materials across global compounding businesses.
- Create and uphold rigorous protocols for evaluations, specifications, and manufacturing implementation.
- Champion safety, cost engineering, and sustainability, leveraging digital tools and AI where possible.
- Plan and run lab tests; analyze results; communicate findings to cross-functional partners.
- Coordinate material evaluations globally to align chemistries and business unit needs.
- Ensure compliance with global regulatory, environmental, and testing requirements.
- Manage material deactivations and advise Production on performance and suitability.
- Review Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and assess risk and improvement opportunities from alternatives.
- Provide timely updates to leadership on material status, risks, and implementation timelines.
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives with R&D, Procurement, Manufacturing, and EHS.
- Build strong supplier relationships and negotiate quality, cost, and sustainability improvements.
- Monitor industry trends, technologies, and regulatory shifts affecting selection and innovation.
- Maintain and update raw material specifications, packaging, and documentation.
- Support peers as needed and take on additional responsibilities to meet team goals.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field; or 4–6 years of equivalent technical experience.Knowledge of mechanical / physical testing methods and laboratory data analysis.Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with comfort interpreting complex technical data.Clear written and verbal communication; effective in cross-functional, cross-regional settings.Project management and organizational strength across multiple concurrent initiatives.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.Ability to produce concise, well-structured technical reports.Six Sigma Green Belt preferred (training available).Experience with digital and AI-driven material management tools is a plus.What We Offer
