Saw Operator - Afternoon Shift (M - F 4 : 00 pm - 12 : 30 am)

Position Summary

The Saw Operator is responsible for cutting steel channel and other raw materials to precise measurements according to job specifications. This role requires strong measurement and math skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate band saws and other cutting equipment to cut steel channel and raw materials to required dimensions.

Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and measurement specifications.

Use measurement tools (tape measure, calipers, squares, etc.) to ensure accuracy.

Perform quality checks on cut pieces to confirm conformance to specifications.

Safely load and unload steel materials using cranes, forklifts, or hoists.

Maintain saws and cutting equipment, including changing blades and performing basic maintenance.

Track material usage and record completed work in production logs.

Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous experience as a saw operator, machine operator, or in metal fabrication preferred.

Strong measurement and math skills required.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, or cut lists.

Experience with forklifts, cranes, or hoists preferred (certification a plus).

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
