Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Oncology position with night shifts, requiring BLS and ACLS certifications and Ohio or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an inpatient medical-surgical oncology unit
  • Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19 : 00-07 : 30) with day and night shift availability
  • Patient population includes hematologic and oncologic diagnoses such as lymphoma, myeloma, leukemias, sickle cell disease, and other cancers
  • Staffing ratios typically 1 : 4, up to 1 : 5
  • May float to other Med / Surg and Oncology units
  • Specialized procedures include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and management of oncologic emergencies
  • Uses Epic EMR for charting
  • Self-scheduling request system utilized; no blocked or set schedules
  • Weekends are variable based on unit needs
  • First week orientation is weekdays on dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit preceptorship
  • Responsibilities include management of chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and critical oncologic emergencies
  • Heavy focus on infection prevention and fall safety protocols
  • Participation in Rapid Response Team as required
  • Two professional references required, with one from a manager / director or formal leader
  • Former employees are eligible if away for 6 months or more; current employees of Ohio State University hospitals are ineligible
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • All candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon contract signature
  • All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted with initial application
  • Scrub or dress code requirements not specified, inquire during interview
  • First-time travelers will be considered

  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at the time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum of recent Med / Surg experience required
  • Hematology / Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • ONS certification preferred
  • Skills required include MS / Tele, telemetry monitoring and interpretation, rapid response, feeding tube care, IV therapy, blood product administration, and line care (central, peripheral, PICC)
  • Must have education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Experience using Epic EMR preferred
