American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Oncology position with night shifts, requiring BLS and ACLS certifications and Ohio or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an inpatient medical-surgical oncology unitNight shifts (3x12 hours, 19 : 00-07 : 30) with day and night shift availabilityPatient population includes hematologic and oncologic diagnoses such as lymphoma, myeloma, leukemias, sickle cell disease, and other cancersStaffing ratios typically 1 : 4, up to 1 : 5May float to other Med / Surg and Oncology unitsSpecialized procedures include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and management of oncologic emergenciesUses Epic EMR for chartingSelf-scheduling request system utilized; no blocked or set schedulesWeekends are variable based on unit needsFirst week orientation is weekdays on dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit preceptorshipResponsibilities include management of chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and critical oncologic emergenciesHeavy focus on infection prevention and fall safety protocolsParticipation in Rapid Response Team as requiredTwo professional references required, with one from a manager / director or formal leaderFormer employees are eligible if away for 6 months or more; current employees of Ohio State University hospitals are ineligibleLocal candidates are accepted at the same rateAll candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon contract signatureAll time off and scheduling requests must be submitted with initial applicationScrub or dress code requirements not specified, inquire during interviewFirst-time travelers will be considered\n \n Requirements\n
Active OH or compact RN license in hand at the time of considerationCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMinimum of recent Med / Surg experience requiredHematology / Oncology experience preferred but not requiredONS certification preferredSkills required include MS / Tele, telemetry monitoring and interpretation, rapid response, feeding tube care, IV therapy, blood product administration, and line care (central, peripheral, PICC)Must have education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing programExperience using Epic EMR preferred\n Benefits\n
