The summer 2026 PI process engineering intern will support the engineering team in designing, developing, and improving new and existing manufacturing process in the PTFE extrusion and FEP HS value streams.
The PI Engineering intern shall, at a minimum, be responsible for the following functions :
- Initiate, conduct and / or assist with engineering studies / projects for new processes, process changes and improvements in order to (1) improve safety in manufacturing, (2) improve product quality and uniformity, and (3) increase production efficiency and decrease standard costs
- Work with engineering and production to develop an optimum process and assist with troubleshooting
- Develop and improve manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, assembly techniques, and quality controls.
- Assist in the development of training and provide training to production personnel during new technology transfer
- Create or assist in creating process flow charts, documents and process sheets.
- Communications with production staff, coworkers, vendors, and engineering teams.
- Characterizing support on PTFE and FEP process development
- Develop job aids that include tooling, fixtures, 5S tools and procedures by working with internal resources as well as external vendors
