Position Summary
The Cloud Engineer II role is responsible for supporting, optimizing, and securing the organization's cloud infrastructure platforms, with a heavy emphasis on Azure, but includes Microsoft 365 E5, and other cloud services. This position resolves advanced technical issues, leads cloud migrations and deployments, and ensures the health, security, and compliance of cloud environments. The Cloud Engineer II collaborates with internal teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions that meet organizational needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Administer, configure, and optimize Azure, Microsoft 365 E5, and other cloud platforms, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and identity services.
- Design, build, and optimize ETL / ELT pipelines (Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Databricks) to consolidate and structure data from diverse sources, including unstructured files and existing databases.
- Manage and support M365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, Defender, Purview, etc.) and ensure secure, reliable collaboration and productivity.
- Lead cloud migrations, deployments, and integration projects across Azure and other cloud platforms.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, etc.) for provisioning, monitoring, and remediation.
- Monitor and maintain the health, security, and uptime of cloud infrastructure; manage incident response and troubleshooting for cloud services.
- Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (HIPAA, NIST, CIS, GDPR) and internal security policies.
- Collaborate closely with other teams to assess their current workflows and identify opportunities for improvement through M365 and cloud technologies.
- Develop and deliver tailored training sessions and workshops to educate users on M365 features and best practices.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in Microsoft 365, Azure and other cloud technologies to provide up-to-date advice and guidance to our employees.
- Train and support staff on effective use of Microsoft 365 applications; develop training materials and end-user documentation.
Minimum Required Qualifications and Skills
Minimum 3 years of experience in cloud engineering, systems administration, or IT infrastructure roles, with a focus on Azure and Microsoft 365, and experience supporting fast-paced, high-impact projects.Deep experience with Azure (Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Databricks, Synapse, etc.) for building scalable, secure, and governed data environments.Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Power Platform), integration with other business applications, and Azure.Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and compliance best practices.Proven experience connecting SQL Server to the Microsoft Power Platform.Ability to train and support end users in Microsoft 365 tools and practices.Proven experience with automation scripting (PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform).Experience with process automation, PowerShell scripting, and integration of Microsoft 365 with third-party applications.Knowledge of data protection, digital accessibility, and business continuity planning.Familiarity with IT asset management, incident management, and cloud security platforms.Work Environment
