Typical Duties & Responsibilities The Plat Clerk serves as the primary point of contact for the public regarding land ownership and parcel information, often acting as a detective of property history. Daily responsibilities involve researching and retrieving property records, including plat maps, deeds, and surveys, both digitally through Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and physically from archived files. They are tasked with explaining complex legal descriptions, property boundaries, and zoning regulations, ensuring accuracy and clarity. Furthermore, Plat Clerks are crucial in processing and updating new land divisions and ownership changes, maintaining the integrity of the county's property records, and collaborating with other departments to ensure consistent data. This role demands sharp attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to providing essential public service in the intricate world of land records.
Typical Qualifications We are looking for someone with a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent customer service skills, experience operating standard office equipment including a personal computer and job-related software applications, and strong attention to detail.
