At Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, our Intensive Care Units are staffed by physicians, nurses and other specialist trained in critical care and how to treat critically ill patients with advanced non-invasive and invasive procedures. Our Critical Care Unit staff provide around the clock high-quality care to patients to ensure appropriate and consistent care. Patients and their families can expect to receive sensitive, patient-centered medical care from our expert team of physicians and nursing staff.

We are currently seeking RNs for immediate full-time day and night flex shift opportunities in our MICU / CICU . Our ideal candidate will have 1-2 years current / recent Critical Care or IMCU experience. Must be able to handle the challenges of a busy fast paced environment, be quick-thinking, with strong assessment skills and the ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure.

DUTIES

• Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
• Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.
• Instruct and educate patients and families.
• Provide respiratory and ventilator management and monitoring for patients.
• Carry out physician orders.
• Orient and mentor new staff members.
• Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
• Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
• Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.
