Custodian/Maintenance

1. BASIC PURPOSE

The primary function of the Maintenance/ Custodian position to assist The Salvation Army in facilitating its mission through the operation of the divisional headquarters. Maintain the appearance and perform/coordinate the repairs/upkeep and cleanliness of the divisional headquarters.

Maintenance B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance

1. Responsible for the general maintenance of The Salvation Army’s divisional headquarters.
2. Perform basic property upkeep, including painting, flooring, windows, doors (knobs and locks), and replacing ceiling tiles and lights.
3. Use the Upkeep program to log and track repairs in the building. Perform any assigned maintenance tasks given by the supervisor. If a task is outside skill level, recommend best course of action.
4. Check with the supervisor periodically during the workday for additional tasks.
5. Maintain and safeguard all company tools and equipment.
6. Maintain curb appeal at Divisional Headquarters.
7. Abide by all local, state, federal, OSHA safety policies.
8. Adhere to policies/procedures of The Salvation Army.
9. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Custodian

1. Sanitizing work areas.
2. Vacuuming all carpeted areas.
3. Sweeping and mopping all hard surfaced flooring. Buffing tiled floors.
4. Dusting all surfaces including office desks, counters and windowsills.
5. Trash collecting for entire building.
6. Clean bathrooms including toilets, floors, counters, sinks and mirrors.
7. Replenishing bathroom supplies as needed.
8. Cleaning glass doors inside and out.
9. Keeping inventory of all janitorial supplies.
10. Keep janitorial closet clean and organized.
11. Maintain Safety Data Sheets for all products in the facility.
12. Clean outside fountain area and empty outside trash can(s).
13. Program set-up of tables and chairs as assigned by supervisor.
14. Maintenance and cleaning of Divisional floater vehicles and assist with picking up and dropping off floater vehicles to the shop or other locations as needed.
15. Performing any other work necessary to maintain the appearance, cleanliness and safety of the Divisional Headquarters Building.

1. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
2. Proven experience in maintenance and repair work
3. Minimum of 1-year prior experience in a maintenance, custodian, or janitorial position.
4. Must be organized and detail oriented.
5. High school diploma or GED required.
6. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision; and
7. Good communication skills and ability to comprehend English instructions and follow through with desired requirements

1. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
2. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
3. Must be 21 years or older.
4. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

1. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
2. Frequent lifting of 30 pounds or more.
3. Frequent climbing of ladders.
4. Good mobility with the ability to climb, crawl, bend and have good dexterity regarding grasping, reaching, and handling.
5. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
6. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
7. Ability to reach overhead.
8. Ability to operate telephone.
9. Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs.
10. Ability to operate a computer.
11. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
12. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
