Structural Lead
Tessera is seeking a skilled, dependable, and safety-focused Structures Lead to oversee building and structural maintenance operations at USAFA. This role involves leading a multi-disciplinary team in performing repairs, renovations, and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical expertise across trades, and a commitment to quality and compliance in a mission-critical environment.
Typical duties include but are not limited to :
- Lead and coordinate multi-trade crews in performing structural maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, masonry, roofing, painting, plumbing, and electrical work
- Interpret blueprints and technical specifications to plan, assign, and execute work orders using the Maximo system, ensuring timely completion and accurate documentation
- Oversee welding and fabrication tasks on structural components, piping systems, and pressure vessels in compliance with ASME codes and safety standards
- Perform and supervise repairs across HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems, including fixtures, motors, plumbing fixtures, and concrete surfaces
- Ensure all work meets USAFA, OSHA, and DoD quality control standards; maintain clean, safe, and functional environments including snow removal and seasonal upkeep
- Train and mentor team members; manage inventory, conduct inspections, and maintain reports on schedules, training, timekeeping, and incident documentation
Qualifications :
Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities or structural maintenanceAt least 2 years in a supervisory or lead roleExperience working on federal or military installations preferredOSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferredForklift and Aerial Lift Certification preferredEPA Lead-Safe Certification preferredTrade licenses in plumbing, electrical, or general contracting preferredCPR / First Aid Certification preferredWelding certifications (AWS Certified Welder, ASME Section IX familiarity) for pressure vessel and structural welding tasks preferredProficiency in reading blueprints, technical manuals, and work ordersSkilled in general contracting trades including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and paintingExperience with welding, metal fabrication, and pressure vessel repairFamiliarity with CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo) for work order managementStrong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skillsAbility to work in varied environments including inclement weather and elevated workspacesPhysical Requirements :
May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.Requirements :
A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
