Special Education Teacher (Long-Term Substitute – Maternity Leave)

Salary : $50,000 to $90,000 per year, Depending on Experience

Position Summary

The Special Education Teacher plays a vital role in supporting students with disabilities and those with identified skill gaps. This role includes case management responsibilities, direct instruction, and close collaboration with general education teachers to ensure inclusive practices and promote student success across all settings.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with general education teachers to plan and evaluate instruction aligned to grade-level outcomes

Implement accommodations and modifications across learning environments to support full inclusion

Design and deliver targeted intervention classes to address specific skill gaps

Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data

Communicate regularly with families of students on caseload to ensure transparency and support

Organize and communicate student-specific data trends to relevant staff

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (required)

  • Teacher License : Special Ed Generalist (5-21) Endorsement (required)

Experience working with diverse student populations

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Collaborative, team-oriented mindset

Commitment to inclusive practices and a student-centered approach

Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff

Schedule :

Typical hours : 8 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM; some evening events required throughout the school year
