Overview

This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Traffic Engineering Project Manager who thrives in a collaborative team environment. Candidates in Northern Virginia will also be considered. What You'll Be Challenged To Do : The successful candidate shall have a minimum of 6+ years of progressive responsibility within Traffic Engineering, overseeing the development of traffic plans and analyses, coordinating with other disciplines and subconsultants. The candidate should possess strong technical, leadership, managerial, and communication skills, and preferably have existing client relationships and the ability to make decisions regarding project development. They should motivate other design staff and work well in a team environment. The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day management and execution of assigned projects, and for leadership and support of business development opportunities and financial management of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Generate the scope, schedule and budget parameters for traffic projects
  • Lead the execution of projects within the scope, schedule and budget
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teams along with other technical disciplines
  • Identify and resolve issues related to project performance, including supplemental scope, schedule and budget requests
  • Develop and implement QA / QC plans for projects
  • Manage subconsultant performance
  • Assist in business development activities, proposal development, and representing GFT at industry and professional events
  • Lead staff including mentoring and training

Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge and experience in traffic engineering with strong technical skills on projects in Maryland; experience in Virginia or the District of Columbia is a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's Degree preferred
  • Registered Maryland Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 6+ years of transportation industry experience with significant concentration in traffic design
  • Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience leading engineering teams
  • Knowledge of traffic operations, safety, and planning studies
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Synchro, SimTraffic, SIDRA, HCS, CORSIM, and / or VISSIM
  • Knowledge of Traffic Engineering principals in the HCM, MUTCD, HSM, ITE and AASHTO manuals
  • Ability to review and interpret files, site plans, construction drawings, and traffic analysis reports
  • Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range : $125,000 - $145,000, dependent on experience and location

    Salary Range : $125,000 - $145,000
