SUMMARY

The position of Certified Medication Aide would function as an interictal partof the clinical team at Brethren Retirement Community. Working within their scope of practice theCMA would help the Charge Nurses in their med pass. When they are not helping with med passesthey would be expected to work as an STNA or Resident Assistant helping theElders with care needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES include the following :

• Provides quality care to residents assigned tohim / her by :
• Deliver routine daily, oral, topical orinhalant to residents under direct supervision of licensed nurse.
• Coordinate with different nurses to assistwith resident care and medications.
• Follow written or verbal instructions on howto manage medications.
• Record medication administration accuratelyaccording to the company process.
• Observe residents and alert licensed nurse ofchanges observed.
• Ensure equipment is routinely inspected andcleaned.
• Uphold all health and safety standards.
• Respond to resident call lights to identifyresident needs.
• Documenting services provided timely andcorrectly.
• Utilize problem solving techniques within thescope of the job description and seek or refer to other staff if need othersolutions outside your authority.
• Promote good employee, interdepartmental andpublic relations by :
• Cooperating with other staff members as a multi-disciplinaryteam to achieve the Mission Statement of Brethren Retirement Community.Maintaining a clean, orderly, and pleasant environment.
• Deal tactfully and courteously with residents,family members, visitors, and general public.
• Conversing with residents, resident family, andmembers of team to determine needs of resident.
• Enhance professional and personal growth anddevelopment through attendance at educational programs, in-services andscheduled meetings by :
• Developinginterpersonal skills through training
• Participatingin in-service offerings.

SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / orEXPERIENCE

Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Must be a Certified Medication Aide in the State of Ohio. Must have a good understanding of medical andpharmaceutical terminology.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating andmaintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routinereports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups ofcustomers or employees of organization. Ability to read, write, and understandEnglish language. Ability to transfer information to applicable forms.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and dividewith 1O's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units ofAmerican money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Able to understandpercent of food intake, convert ounces to cubic centimeters.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed butuninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problemsinvolving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
