Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Contracts and Real Estate, the Paralegal shall provide legal, contract and administrative support to the General Counsel, Director of Contracts and all other Attorneys with a primary focus on legal research, drafting legal documents (including memos, briefs, pleadings, and policies) and supporting the contract review and approval process

Responsibilities :

  • Review, research legal issues, prepare and / or draft memos, contracts, and other legal documents with attention to details and accuracy.
  • Maintains electronic and paper legal files by establishing and organizing legal files, documenting actions taken in notes, inputting information into the file database and contract management software, and confirming the file status with the supervising attorney.
  • Develop contracts and cases by maintaining contact with all parties involved with the contract, preparing written contract summaries or memos, closing out contracts promptly and in accordance with Departmental closing procedures, and drafting appropriate correspondence to inform, close out, or secure signatures.
  • Answer internal staff and vendor questions regarding the contract process in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. Maintain positive working relationships with the Team, internal staff, and vendor.
  • Maintains an up-to-date Desk Reference and frequently referenced resources in an electronic or paper format.
  • Research legal issues and compile information and data.
  • Coordinates and produces weekly and monthly contract summary reports in accordance with Departmental Standards of Operation.
  • Drafts legal documents, including correspondence, and other legal memoranda using proper format and appropriate content.
  • Reviews and provides feedback for the monthly Board report to ensure entries are accurate, in proper format, and contain all necessary information, including any related documents.
  • Serves and files legal documents with appropriate case files and in accordance with the electronic or paper filing standards of the department.
  • Supports departmental or external contract meetings by preparing or drafting a file summary and organizing the contract file and any other relevant documents in a manner that will assist the Attorney(s) in facilitating a discussion of any contractual issues or gaining consensus or a resolution plan.
  • Interact effectively, in person, by telephone, and in written correspondence with lawyers, internal staff, co-workers, and other business professionals.
  • Use both print and electronic sources of law to locate applicable statutes, administrative regulations, and other primary source materials.
  • Use both print and electronic sources of law to locate law review articles, legal encyclopedias, and other secondary source materials that help explain the law.
  • Read, evaluate, and analyze both print and electronic sources of law and apply them to issues requiring legal analysis.
  • Establishes and maintains contract files, logs, and other information in connection with the work performed by the Attorney(s).
  • Input and maintain contract Requisitions as per the Departmental standards and time limits.
  • Support internal Contract Owners and other staff by facilitating necessary dialogue or collaboration to develop and deliver contracts in a timely and efficient manner that are accurate and contain all appropriate terms and conditions.
  • Qualifications and Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year College or University. A minimum of three years of experience or more is required.
  • Experience working with a Governmental or Healthcare entity preferred. Experience with Real Estate transactions preferred but not required .
  • Knowledge of and experience with vendor negotiations, contract law, contract terms and conditions, and general contract procedure

    The base pay range for this position is $32.00 - $34.00, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
