Payroll Technician

The Role :

The Payroll Technician supports business operations by processing payroll accurately and on time resolving payroll issues and coordinating with the Payroll and People & Culture departments. The payroll technician also assists with accounts payable and maintains compliance with all regulations while safeguarding company assets.

What Youll Accomplish :

• Review timecards pay amounts and special payments for accuracy using established policies and laws.
• Investigate and document payroll discrepancies
• Monitor payroll deductions and adjustments including garnishments union dues deferred compensation and voluntary insurance costs.
• Respond to payroll and timekeeping inquiries; provide training as needed.
• Create and post journal entries for various accounting functions including payroll.
• Process accounts payable payment requests and expense reports.
• Prepare and submit government reporting including taxes and retirement payments; ensure compliance with changes.
• Generate routine and ad hoc reports for management.
• Document payroll procedures and system changes. Maintain compliance with all contracts and policies.
• Pursue ongoing training for payroll system / process improvement. Research industry best practices.
• Handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
