About This Job
The main purpose of this job is to serve as a subject matter expert, set strategy, and provide direction and day-to-day support to various business units on operational risk management. The Senior Manager, Operational Risk will interface with all levels of management and will oversee the continuous improvement of the Bank's operational risk management program. Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively are vital for success in this role.
Essential Functions
- Manage and set strategy for the Operational Risk Management team, including oversight over Model Risk, Third Party Risk, Insurance, Operational Risk Monitoring, Risk Management Technology, and other Operational Risk teams as assigned.
- Maintain a strong technical understanding of model risk, third party risk, information technology, privacy rules, information security, applicable regulations, and regulatory guidance.
- Manage Operational Risk Monitoring program, including development of defined schedules for monitoring reviews, completion of associated reports, and implementation of improvement plans as needed.
- Develop, implement, and maintain, in collaboration with the Risk Management Technology team and other Risk Management leaders, the Risk Management technology roadmap and strategy.
- Work closely with business unit partners to ensure thorough implementation of newly promulgated or amended laws, regulations and guidance related to programs supported by the Operational Risk Management team.
- Manage the CBI corporate insurance program, including the annual renewal process, brokerage relationships, budget, and presentations to Audit & Risk Committee and senior management; support day-to-day insurance-related questions from employees and business unit partners.
- Present periodically to various risk committees and senior and executive management.
- Coordinate with Enterprise Risk Management, Banking Advisory, Compliance Monitoring, Model Risk Management, Third Party Risk Management, the Financial Intelligence Unit, and other Risk Management teams as needed.
- Manage regulatory examinations and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies who supervise the areas supported by the Operational Risk Management team.
- Develop corrective action plans in response to audit, regulatory, and self-identified issues.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate team members to implement the department strategy and be responsible for upholding the company culture and driving it within the organization.
- Communicate decisions, priorities, and relevant information to appropriate levels of staff effectively.
- Oversee budget management, planning and expenditure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
