Title : Supplier Quality Engineer
Full-Time | Aerospace & Defense | Quality Engineering
Summary :
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Los Angeles team. This role reports to the Supplier Quality Manager and will be directly responsible for ensuring supplier performance, resolving quality issues, and strengthening our supply base through proactive quality initiatives.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct supplier audits and on-site assessments to ensure compliance with aerospace and defense quality standards.
- Review supplier First Article Inspections (FAIs) and validate against AS9102 requirements.
- Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions using structured methods (8D, DMAIC, Fishbone).
- Review and approve supplier PPAP submissions, control plans, and process validations.
- Lead Material Review Board (MRB) investigations and collaborate on supplier-related nonconformances.
- Track and report supplier performance metrics (quality, delivery, cost of poor quality) with scorecards.
- Partner with Procurement and Engineering to qualify new suppliers, evaluate process changes, and mitigate risks.
- Train and mentor suppliers on quality tools, documentation, and continuous improvement practices.
- Support inspection teams with GD&T interpretation, drawing reviews, and acceptance criteria.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying systemic supplier issues and implementing long-term solutions.
Qualifications :
Associates or Bachelors degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related).5+ years of supplier quality or quality engineering experience in aerospace / defense manufacturing.Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 / 9000, FAA CFR 14 Part 21, and related quality standards.Hands-on experience with supplier quality tools : FAIs, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, supplier audits.Skilled in inspection methods (CMM, mechanical / electronic inspection) and interpreting technical drawings (GD&T).Proficiency in quality systems and tools (e.g., DISCUS, Net-Inspect, SolidWorks, CATIA, MS Office).Preferred : ASQ certification (CQE, CQA), Six Sigma Black Belt, or Lead Auditor certification.What We Offer
