Overview
Electrical Engineer II , onsite, M-F — Detroit, MI. This role focuses on the design, development, and validation of electrical wiring systems and components for low- and high-voltage vehicle architectures. The ideal candidate will have strong technical design skills, a working knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, and the ability to support hands-on troubleshooting and validation during build phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical wiring systems and LV / HV harnesses from concept through production.
- Analyze and define wire harness topology, packaging, routing, and retention strategies to meet vehicle and system requirements.
- Create and maintain 2D / 3D electrical schematics, harness drawings, and BOMs using tools such as Mentor Graphics Capital, Zuken E3, or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Perform electrical system compatibility reviews and sign-off on harness prints.
- Support build activities — including prototype, validation, and vehicle bring-up — by troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical issues using CAN tools, oscilloscopes, and DVMs.
- Interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to resolve design and validation issues.
- Contribute to DFMEA and DVP documentation, and participate in design reviews.
- Inspect first-article assemblies and verify conformance to released design specifications.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related technical discipline).2+ years of hands-on experience in vehicle electrical system development or wire harness design.Strong understanding of electrical schematics, system integration, and component packaging.Proficiency using electrical test and diagnostic tools (oscilloscope, DVM, CAN analysis tools).Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Mentor Graphics, Zuken E3, or AutoCAD Electrical.Familiarity with CAN bus communication, module flashing, DBC files, and DTC diagnostics.Knowledge of DFMEA / DVP, circuit fusing and grounding, and harness partitioning.Experience supporting vehicle validation or prototype builds.Understanding of LV / HV electrical systems and design for manufacturability.Why Join Us
