Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

Location : New Haven, CT 06510 (Connecticut nursing jobs)

Facility : Level I Trauma Center, Short Term Acute Care Hospital

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 9 / 19 / 2025 – End : 12 / 19 / 2025)

Shift : Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19 : 00 – 07 : 30)

Hours per Week : 36 guaranteed hours

On-Call : 16 hours per 6-week schedule block

Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend

Charting System : Epic (Epic experience required)

Scrubs : Provided

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (CT RN license required; pending accepted if active prior to start)

Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience (high-risk, Level I Trauma Center preferred)

BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications required

EPIC charting experience required

AWHONN Advanced certification preferred

Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

Ability to take scheduled on-call shifts

Not accepting local candidates (must reside more than 75 miles from facility)

One professional reference required

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver expert nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a high-volume, high-acuity environment

Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and emergency interventions

Perform advanced L&D procedures : amnioinfusion, magnesium sulfate therapy, EFM / IUPC monitoring, APGAR scoring, and more

Support breastfeeding, lactation, newborn assessment, and postpartum care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response

Accurately document patient care and interventions using Epic

Participate in on-call rotation and weekend coverage as scheduled

Float within scope to meet facility needs as required
