This Per‑Diem position is with University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS). The facility provides intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults, including detox and substance abuse programs. Located on a 14‑acre campus in Orlando, Florida, it has 112 licensed beds. Qualified professionals with an active / clear Florida license are required; previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is preferred.

Position Summary

The Therapist will provide art, music and therapeutic recreation services to patients, including direct therapy, evaluative activities, and coordination of hospital‑wide activities. Essential Job Functions

• Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide evidence‑based treatment and services for inpatient psychiatric patients in a practice environment focused on continuous evaluation and improvement.
• Plans, schedules and implements expressive therapy programs to meet the needs, interests and capabilities of the patient population. Implements a program of therapeutic activities to help participants move toward improved functioning and achievement of treatment goals. Teaches patients appropriate identification and release of emotions, problem‑solving, physical exercise and coping skills for post‑discharge use.
• Engages the maximum number of patients in art, recreation, painting, discussion groups and movement therapy; assists Behavioral Health staff in co‑leading. Resources additional expressive therapeutic interventions to engage nonparticipants. Addresses identified patients’ needs and obstacles.
• Documents patients’ abilities, needs and responses in relation to treatment goals, in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Completes assessments with Mental Health patients to examine personal resources and coping and leisure skills.

Qualifications

EDUCATION : Required : Bachelor’s and / or Master’s degree from an accredited college / university in a Therapeutic Recreation program, Art or Music.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION : Certification with NCTRC, CTRS, MT‑BC, and ATR in Florida.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Able to lift 50 pounds with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Physically fit to demonstrate and conduct recreational activities for patients. Ability to restrain patients through hospital‑approved methods.
