As a part of Uptown Community Health Center, Bruner Family Medicine sees patients of all ages and backgrounds. As the main clinic for a Residency program we have over 30 different Providers. We have 4 specialty clinics within Bruner that are ran by our Faculty.

Summary

Patient Service Representatives (PSRs) play a key role in representing the clinic; they are the welcoming face and are responsible for greeting patients professionally in person and on the phone. Efficient and accurate registration is a vital aspect of the position. Knowledge of insurance parameters, co-pays, and available financial options within our health center is developed in this role. Patient Service Representatives are crucial in contributing to scheduling, outreach, rescheduling, and referral scheduling. They also monitor and direct the flow of paperwork in and out of the office.

Essential Functions

Be available to work in person as scheduled and report to work on time regularly and reliably.

Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to organization standards, policies, and procedures, and to legal regulations; alerting others with potential concerns.

Communicates in a professional, clear, effective, and compassionate way with patients, visitors, and coworkers. Both in person, on the telephone, and with written communication.

Creates a welcoming spirit by greeting everyone who walks in, and introduces themselves in a prompt and pleasant manner.

Registers patients efficiently and accurately; verifies and records necessary demographic information; verifies insurance and method of payment; and collects fees and co-payments.

Responsible for following all cash-handling procedures, posting co-payments at registration, batching daily production, and balancing user batch reports by end of the shift. Submits to management at the end of shift. Will also notify management to void any tickets printed in error.

Responsible for continuous efforts in addressing and completing in-basket tasks and work queues.

Checks reception area daily to maintain a clean and orderly waiting area.

Schedules appointments and is proficient in the scheduling nuances of the health center. And complete reschedules and outreach calls as directed.

Complete the no-show appointment process, per protocol.

Proper and accurate documentation within the electronic medical record : recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.

Maintains patient confidentiality and protects medical office operations by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.

Maintains a clean work area : Clean and stock the rooms in accordance with the Kanban system.

Participates in huddles daily, per huddle procedure.

Attends required staff meetings, standard work meetings, trainings, and associate events

Other duties as assigned

Experience / Qualifications :

Required :

High School diploma or GED equivalent required

Preferred :

Two (2) years experience in integrated healthcare or primary care.

Experience with Microsoft Office

Experience with Epic application and heath record.

Experience working with and sensitivity toward special populations, including those with limited income, limited education, and non-English speaking individuals.

Bilingual English / Spanish, complete comprehension, literacy and fluency in both languages
