The Grant Coordinator is responsible for identifying, applying for, and managing grants from private and public funding sources. This role requires a blend of excellent research, writing, and organizational skills to ensure that funding opportunities are maximized and
compliant with grant requirements is maintained. As a Grant Coordinator & Writer, you will collaborate with various departments and stakeholders, playing a key role in the financial sustainability and growth of the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Research and identify public and private grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
- Coordinate the full lifecycle of grant applications, including timelines, stakeholder input, and submission.
- Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.
- Maintain accurate records of grant activities, deadlines, funding cycles and reporting requirements.
- Manage invoicing and reporting for the State of California's Bridge to Recovery grant award.
- Assist with development of annual grants application calendar.
- Collaborate with program staff, finance, and leadership to gather data and develop budgets.
- Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, including timely reporting, documentation and metrics.
- Assist with implementing development plans including direct mail, special events, and donor stewardship.
- Track and report on grant outcomes and performance metrics.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with California recordkeeping laws and organizational policies.
- Assist with audits and monitoring visits as needed.
- Stay informed of changes in California and federal grant regulations and employment law.
Qualifications
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Administration, Business, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.Minimum 1-3 years of experience in grant writing, grant coordination, or development roles.Demonstrated success in securing grants from government agencies, foundations, and corporate funders.Experience with California-based funding sources and familiarity with state-specific compliance requirements.Technical Skills :
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).Experience with grant management systems (e.g., Blackbaud, Raisers Edge or similar platforms).Strong budgeting and financial analysis skills related to grant proposals.Familiarity with federal and California-specific grant regulations (e.g., OMB Uniform Guidance, Cal OES requirements).Core Competencies :
