Performs the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, and / or the Director of Housekeeping / Supervisor of Housekeeping, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner. Knowledge and experience of housekeeping operations and equipment and long term care facility experience is a plus! Multiple shifts; hours and pay will be discussed at interview.
Responsibilities
- Performs housekeeping duties, preventive cleaning tasks and assigned custodial duties in all areas of the facility ensuring the facility environment meets the physical, social and spiritual needs of each resident / family.
- Performs duties including but not limited to : floor maintenance programs, deep cleaning programs, trash maintenance, equipment cleaning, waste management and transportation of clean and soiled linens.
- Keeps record of linen distribution; checks floor linen supplies and lists linen use.
- Operates mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, and related environmental service equipment.
- Adheres to daily, weekly and monthly cleaning check off lists, workplace policies, audit sheets and routines.
- Is knowledgeable of inventory and supplies and informs supervisor of needs.
- Keeps work areas free of hazardous conditions (e.g., spills, egress).
- Assists others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested.
- Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required.
- Adheres to all policy and procedures when performing job functions (fire safety, hazardous materials, lifting safety, etc.).
- Follows infection control, standard precautions, and OSHA guidelines when performing daily tasks.
- Ensures daily the neatness and cleanliness of resident living rooms and common areas, including rooms and equipment such as furniture, closets, mobility devices, bathrooms, and utility rooms.
- Establishes and maintains good team relationships and interdepartmental relationships to ensure residents' needs are met.
- Participates in continuing education related to job description and LTC to maintain and enhance skills.
- Follows code of ethics in procurement, handling of confidential information, and personal conduct; maintains confidentiality of resident information.
- Recognizes role as part of QAPI efforts; attends training to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work; carries out QAPI role as assigned; follows policies to support QAPI efforts; shares improvement ideas with leadership and communicates outcomes or barriers.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Moves intermittently during working hours.Functions independently with flexibility, integrity, and ability to work effectively with residents, families, and staff.Subject to frequent interruptions and to interactions with residents, families, personnel and visitors who may be upset.Must be able to push, pull, move and / or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a distance of at least 50 feet.Work may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens; knowledge of OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standard and proper handling and cleanup procedures is required.Other Duties
