Quality Inspector – 1st Shift
Location: Harwood Heights, IL
Salary: $–$/hr, depending on experience
6 months Contract-to-hire
We are seeking a hands-on Quality Inspector for a precision aerospace machining operation. This isn’t a receiving-level role – we need someone who knows machine shop inspections inside and out and can hit the ground running.
What You’ll Do:
Perform in-process and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, profilometers, optical comparators, and other precision tools.
Read and interpret blueprints and routers, applying basic GD&T (flatness, perpendicularity, parallelism).
Document inspection results by hand with full traceability and attention to detail.
Coordinate and oversee gauge calibration, both internally and with external services.
Work independently in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment while ensuring every part meets exacting aerospace standards.
What We’re Looking For:
2+ years of hands-on inspection experience in a machining environment (2–3 years OK if competent and moldable).
Proficient with precision measuring tools and comfortable measuring down to 0.1”.
Knowledge of GD&T and ability to select the right tool for each inspection.
Experience coordinating or managing calibration processes.
High School Diploma or GED.
Nice-to-Haves:
Aerospace, medical, or automotive machining background.
Experience in both in-process and final inspections.
Familiarity with ISO-certified environments.
Shift & Hours: 1st Shift, 6: a.m.–2: p.m. (with optional OT)
If you’re a detail-oriented inspector with calibration experience, take pride in your work, and thrive in a fast-paced machining environment, we want to hear from you!
