Lead Diesel Technician (Full-Time)

JOB FUNCTION :

The Lead Diesel Technician is a member of the management team, assisting in overseeing and performing fleet maintenance operations. The Lead Diesel Technician is responsible for coordinating and leading truck and trailer mechanics, while maintaining a safe, efficient, goal-oriented department. This position will report to the Mechanic Shop Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Maintain and continue to develop a high level of maintenance procedures to lessen fleet problems
• Oversee and coordinate the activities of all diesel and trailer mechanics across all shifts
• Conduct thorough inspections of trucks, trailers, and assigned equipment
• Use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical and electrical problems, then repair or replace malfunctioning parts
• Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks
• Assist the Mechanic Shop Manager in planning and scheduling maintenance activities
• Train and educate mechanics on new equipment and techniques
• Assist the Mechanic Shop Manager in maintaining inventory and ordering parts as needed
• Bring any questions or concerns of mechanics to the Mechanic Shop Manager
• Assist in adhering to safety procedures and regulations
• Fill in for the Mechanic Shop Manager when needed
• Other duties as assigned
