AWHONN (Intermediate or Advanced)

Must-Have : Epic EMR proficiency

Recent experience in a Trauma Level I / II hospital

Ability to perform vaginal exams

Experience with scalp electrodes

Ability to circulate a C-section

Ability to assist anesthesiology

IV starts and blood draws experience

Knowledge of APGAR assignments

Experience with postpartum hemorrhage control

Ability to manage epidurals and amnio infusion

Competence in caring for babies for two hours after delivery

Description :

The position requires compliance with a 100-mile radius rule for candidates.

The unit consists of nine L&D beds and two operating room suites for C-sections.

There are seven triage beds with an average of nine births per day.

The hospital typically has around 250 births monthly, totaling approximately 3,000 annually.

The department strives to maintain a staffing ratio of 1 : 1 or 1 : 2, with two patients being common.

Common patient demographics include those with hypertension and a significant percentage without prenatal care.

Proficiency in Spanish is preferred due to a high population of Spanish-speaking patients.

Responsibilities include titrating drips such as magnesium, pitocin, insulin, and blood.

Each shift will have a charge nurse available for support.

OB Techs are present to assist the nursing staff.

Neonatologists are available in-house 24 / 7.

The unit has tele monitoring equipment in place, though OB RNs are not required to read tele.

The charting system utilized is Epic.

Shifts are scheduled from 0645 to 1915.

Weekend requirements consist of three shifts within a four-week schedule.

Holiday requirements typically involve working two out of three holidays, which include the eve and day of each holiday.

Participation in on-call and standby is not mandatory but is available for those interested.

Floating to NICU, pediatrics, women's health, as well as medical-surgical or ICU assignments is expected.

Nurses may be assigned to care for antepartum patients as necessary.

Scrubs are provided through the facility.

The cancellation policy allows clients to cancel hours equivalent to the guaranteed weekly hours for the assigned duration.
