Salary Range : $85,000 Annually
Position Summary
The Northeast Cost Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of Noble Fueling Solutions and its subsidiaries. This role is responsible for tracking and analyzing project / job costs, preparing financial reports, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, and supporting management with insights that guide business decisions. The ideal candidate has experience in job costing—preferably in construction, manufacturing, engineering, or professional services—and excels at turning financial data into actionable recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
Job Cost Accounting
Maintain accurate job cost records, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead.Review, reconcile, and analyze project / job cost variances.Ensure costs are allocated correctly and in accordance with company policies and GAAP.Collaborate with project managers to review budgets, cost forecasts, and progress billings.Perform monthly job cost closings and prepare work-in-progress (WIP) schedules.Financial Analysis & Reporting
Prepare and evaluate financial performance reports (job profitability, margin analysis, actual vs. budget, forecasts).Analyze trends and identify risks or opportunities affecting job profitability.Assist with revenue recognition, margin projections, and cash flow analysis.Present financial insights and recommendations to senior management.Process Improvement & Cross-Department Support
Develop and refine job cost tracking tools and dashboards.Support internal controls and process improvements related to job costing and financial reporting.Assist with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.Coordinate with Accounts Payable / Receivable, Procurement, and Project Management teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data.Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.3+ years of experience in job cost accounting, cost accounting, or project accounting.Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP / project accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, etc.).Ability to interpret data and present findings clearly to non-financial stakeholders.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Preferred Qualifications
Industry experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering, or service industries.CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification a plus. Rev Recognition.An Equal Opportunity Employer
