Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist with active ASHA certification and at least 2 years of experience to provide therapy services in a rural Arizona location.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an inpatient and outpatient setting serving a predominantly Native American population
  • Treats patients of all ages, from birth through geriatric
  • Provides assessment and treatment for speech, language, swallowing, cognitive, and voice disorders
  • Specialty services include swallowing evaluations, Videofluoroscopy (VFSS / MBS), Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), pediatric feeding evaluation, and assistive technology / adaptive equipment evaluations
  • Monday through Friday schedule, 8am to 5pm
  • Electronic health record system used for documentation
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and adjusting treatment plans based on patient progress
  • Provide patient, family, and staff education on therapy goals and procedures
  • Participate in specialty clinics including geriatric and assistive technology clinics
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team including physicians, nurses, and social workers
  • May be required to provide training and in-services for students and staff
  • Orientation provided every two weeks
  • COVID-19 and flu vaccination exemptions may be accepted with completion of a declination form
  • Housing may be available but is not guaranteed; application must be submitted two weeks before start date
  • Work environment is very rural
  • Must maintain medical staff credentialing core privileges during the assignment

    • Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited program
  • Current Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC) from ASHA
  • Valid and unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology license from Arizona or any US jurisdiction (license required if applicable)
  • At least 2 years of experience as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association
  • Must meet requirements for medical staff credentialing
  • Fingerprinting must be completed prior to start
