Description

Active TCOLE License Directly responsible for completion of assignments as given. Particular emphasis on civil and criminal matters directed out of the courts. Part time deputies shall put in at least 16 hours a month as set out in policy.

Example of Duties

Essential Functions :

• Maintain required training and qualifications as set out in departmental procedures.
• Communicates with the public, administration, other police agencies, victims, and other municipal, county and state employees on a professional on-going manner.
• Assist in developing and implementing proactive methods of reducing both criminal and civil activities.
• Perform such duties that are assigned in the absence of supervisors.
• Perform investigations related to the department.
• Assist other law enforcement agencies as needed or requested.
• Inspect issued departmental equipment and supplies to insure proper operation and availability.
• Responsible for the proper handling of evidence including identification, record keeping, preparation, security and storage.
• Responsible for proper jailing procedures including book-in, fingerprinting, transporting and civil rights of prisoners.
• Properly take sworn statements from witnesses, victims and suspects.
• Properly execute a traffic stop and violator contact.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities :

Prerequisites : Must have successfully passed Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Licensing exam. Must pass drug test, psychological, physical and criminal background. (Paid by applicant) Must have valid Texas Drivers License and favorable background record. No previous law enforcement experience required but preferred. Must complete all employee policies and standards set out by Brazoria County.
