Job description

Magen David Yeshivah (MDY) is a Modern Orthodox Yeshivah seeking an IT professional to support the technical needs of 1800 students and 400 employees / educators at our Brooklyn Elementary school.

This is a 12 month a year position (working through the summer months) and requires in office support 5 days a week.

Responsibilities for Technical Support Specialist

  • Act as the first point of contact for troubleshooting technology issues, accurately logging all support activities, and resolving or escalating where necessary in a timely manner.
  • Install, configure, backup, restore, and migrate computers, data, and applications.
  • Diagnose hardware and software issues and solve technical and application problems.
  • Repair Chromebooks and / or arrange shipment to repair depot.
  • Onboard new hires in Active Directory / Google Admin console. Create ID cards and configure building access as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with end users and management.
  • Setup and run media presentations and live stream events, some after-hours work required throughout the year.
  • Contribute to the school knowledgebase by writing accurate and organized documentation.
  • Keep accurate inventory in our asset tracking system / Google Admin console.
  • Setup computer hardware and peripherals while maintaining neat cable management standards.
  • Work with users in person and over remote desktop applications.

Qualifications for Technical Support Specialist

  • 5 years of relevant experience in the technology field.
  • A+ or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Windows and Chrome operating systems. Mac experience preferred.
  • Customer service oriented and ability to work with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication skills, and a warm personality.
  • A passion and curiosity for problem-solving and learning, and a desire to maintain current and up-to-date knowledge in a wide variety of hardware, software, services and operating systems.
  • Ability to quickly prioritize and correct problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidates should be able to lift 40 lbs and traverse multiple stories of stairs.

  • The Technology Specialist reports to the Director of Information Technology.
