Overview

The Procedural Nurse utilizes a systematic approach to nursing by incorporating assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the practice of nursing. Provides healthcare to individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing.

Qualifications

Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), Education : Associate's Degree, Work Experience : None

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced nursing activities, which can include assisting with procedures using local anesthetic, and placement of IV's.
• Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice.
• Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
• Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
• Provides health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
• Acts as preceptor and supports development of other staff and healthcare students.
• Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve quality of care or clinical outcomes.
• Assists Nursing Supervisor / coordinator in the development of departmental standing orders.
• Assists with Mohs procedures / numbing patients.
• Responsible for working patients up for consult.
• Performs Mohs tech - slide prep / frozen section prep.
• Prepares equipment for sterilization, processes equipment via sterilization, maintains necessary equipment for sterilization.
• Assists with in-office procedures such as Mohs surgery, excision, biopsy, and dermabrasion.
• Provides education of patients on administration of local anesthetic.
• Administers medications in the office.
• Provides in-office education for patients regarding procedures aftercare.
• Obtains prior authorizations for procedures.
• Performs telephone triage for acute patient needs.
• Handles cleaning and stocking of exam rooms.
• Performs cleaning and sterilization of procedure equipment.
• Maintains knowledge of histology lab procedures and assists when necessary.
• Manages patient scheduling.
• Documents photos of lesions / wounds, uploads photos to EMR.
• Conducts pre-procedural education.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $29per hour - $49.88per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
