Two premier health systems in the state of
Alabama, UAB Medicine and Infirmary Health, have come together to
improve patient outcomes for our state by developing a Department
of Urology / Urologic Oncology as part of the comprehensive Academic
partnership agreement.
Infirmary Health has been
delivering high-quality healthcare for over 110 years and is the
largest integrated, not-for-profit, non-governmental healthcare
system in Alabama and along the Central Gulf Coast. The system sees
1.5 million patient visits each year and has nearly 60 percent of
the healthcare market share in the two primary counties it serves.
With four hospitals, an employed multi-specialty group that
includes 230 physicians and over 30 outpatient facilities,
Infirmary Health is a leading healthcare provider in Alabama.
At present, Infirmary Health does not have any
Urologists in its multi-specialty physician group. The goal is to
recruit 4-6 Urologists under the leadership of a newly recruited
Chief of Urology. The complement of recruited Physicians will have
General Urologists, Cancer Urologists, and other Urologic
subspecialties needed for Infirmary Health. The Physicians will be
jointly recruited by UAB Department of Urology in the Heersink
School of Medicine and Infirmary Health.
