The Community - Oklahoma
If you visit Oklahoma, you'll be able to find numerous lakes for recreational use. These lakes look so natural you likely wouldn't guess that many of them are man-made! It has over 200 lakes that have been created artificially by dams and are commonly visited to take advantage of fishing and outdoor play. Of the bodies of water that Oklahoma has though, the most unique is the Red River, of which its name is quite literal. Due to mineral and clay deposits in the soil of the river, the water has a reddish hue as it flows to the Gulf of Mexico. It is one of the only rivers in the country with this characteristic and is named the Red River of the South to distinguish it from the Red River of the North. What most might think about when considering Oklahoma is the exquisite food that ranges from Native American cuisine to what some might consider a step off from soul food. But did you know that there is an official state meal? It consists of multiple courses, and if you order it you'll get fried okra, cornbread, barbecue pork, squash, biscuits, sausage and gravy, grits, corn, strawberries, chicken fried steak, pecan pie, and black eyed peas - yum!

About the Facility - Oklahoma City area Indian Health Services
The Oklahoma City area Indiana Health Service serves the state of Oklahoma, Kansas, and portions of Texas. Oklahoma is home to more than 39 Tribes and Tribal Organizations, a unique characteristic of the Oklahoma City area because many Tribes have opted to operate their own health programs, including large-scale hospitals to the smaller preventive care programs in behavioral health programs. The area consists of eight service units with federally operated hospitals clinics and smaller health stations. The large number of tribal health care facilities in programs is an accurate reflection of the partnerships and cooperation the Oklahoma City area has with the tribes in their area as they join together to fulfill the health care needs of their community. Services for this position is specifically for the Claremore Indian Hospital and the Lawton Indian Hospital.
