Description :

The Registered Nurse on the Adult Chemical Dependency unit is an essential member of the patient care team.

This role is responsible for delivering direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process in all assigned areas.

The RN will conduct thorough admission interviews and systematic physical assessments.

The RN will assess the needs for services of other healthcare professionals to facilitate patient care delivery.

The RN will develop, implement, and revise appropriate patient care plans.

Careful and thorough documentation of patient conditions, care provided, and responses to care is essential.

The RN will perform patient education and facilitate groups.

Care is provided to patients ages 15 and older.

The most frequent diagnoses include physiological dependency to alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and / or other drugs.

Many patients may also have associated psychiatric diagnoses.

The unit operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Staff must be trained and able to demonstrate competency in the application of restraints and the implementation of seclusion.

Monitoring and assessing patients in restraint or seclusion is essential to ensure competency.

Behavioral health experience is required.

Holiday coverage is required.
