Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Enterprise Collaboration & Information Architect to take ownership of the information architecture, data governance, and compliance strategy for our primary cloud-based content platforms : Enterprise Box and Google Workspace (with a focus on Google Drive / Shared Drives).

This is a critical, technical role responsible for transforming our shared file structures from an ad hoc system into a secure, organized, and scalable enterprise content management framework. The successful candidate will leverage their background in managing large-scale, structured environments (e.g., SharePoint Site Collections, Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platforms) to design and enforce best-practice architecture in Box and Google Workspace.

This is an onsite role in our McLean, VA office.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a logical, closed structure folder taxonomy and content classification model across Box and Google Shared Drives to optimize content retrieval, security, and scalability

Apply established Enterprise Content Management (ECM) principles, including deep experience with metadata, site hierarchy, and content types from platforms like SharePoint, to the implementation of taxonomy and data structures in Box and Google Drive

Define, document, and enforce policies for data classification, data retention, legal hold, and lifecycle management within the collaboration platforms, ensuring alignment with internal compliance standards and regulatory requirements

Architect and govern the security and permissions models (e.g., Shared Link policies, folder access, external sharing) utilizing experience with complex security models to ensure robust least-privilege access

Serve as the technical owner and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Box and Google Workspace architecture, driving strategic platform enhancements, integrations (e.g., eDiscovery tools, DLP), and security configurations

Support and advise on strategy for the potential migration of data or the consolidation of older content platforms by applying a deep understanding of content lifecycle management and metadata preservation

Act as the ultimate technical resource for the Enterprise Applications team, handling complex architecture, security, and integration issues

Basic Qualifications

A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in a dedicated Information Architect, Data Governance, or Senior Systems Analyst role focused on large-scale Enterprise Content Management (ECM) or Collaboration Platforms is required.

Must possess a strong architectural background in at least one major ECM / Collaboration platform, demonstrating mastery of the core concepts of content management, taxonomy, and security hierarchy (e.g., SharePoint Site Architecture, Document Management Systems, or other structured file systems).

Demonstrated expertise in administering and architecting either Enterprise Box, Google Workspace, or similar ECM platforms

Deep familiarity with data governance concepts (classification, retention, eDiscovery) and the ability to apply security and compliance controls to collaboration data is essential.

Exceptional strategic thinking, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex governance and architectural concepts to both technical staff and business leadership, are necessary.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, OR 8+ years of relevant experience is required.

Alignment to Clark Standards of Excellence : Self-Motivated, Results Oriented, Adaptable, Team Player, Accountable, Ethical, Innovative, Resilient, Builds Relationships, Builds People / Teams & Followership, Sets Direction and Executes

Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience architecting, migrating, or governing large-scale content in SharePoint (Online or On-Premise) or Microsoft 365 (OneDrive / Teams / Lists) is highly preferred

Prior experience in a formal SharePoint Architect or M365 Solution Architect role, demonstrating the ability to design and govern enterprise-scale content management ecosystems

Experience implementing or managing Data Loss Prevention (DLP), eDiscovery, or Information Rights Management (IRM) solutions for cloud content is a plus

Certifications such as Box Certified Professional, Google Workspace Administrator Certification, Microsoft 365 Certified : Enterprise Administrator Expert, Microsoft Certified : Information Protection Administrator Associate (SC-400) or relevant Data Governance / Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) are beneficial

Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools like ServiceNow, particularly with configuration management and advanced ticket workflows, is preferred

Experience in the Construction or Engineering industry is a plus

The work environment and requirements described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.

The Physical Side of the Role : Given that a good portion of your day will be spent at a desk, you should be comfortable with prolonged periods of focused work, whether it's collaborating with colleagues, analyzing data, or developing strategies. The role demands effective communication and sharp visual acuity for reviewing complex documents and performing detailed computer work. While there are times for quiet concentration, you'll also be expected to move actively throughout the office and travel occasionally to various locations, including dynamic construction sites, utilizing different modes of transportation. The ability to lift and move objects up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds on occasion (think a box of files or small office equipment), is also required.

Your Work Environment : Your primary workspace will be in our professional office, which has a typical, quiet-to-moderate noise and light levels. As part of your work, you may also be required to visit active construction sites. These environments are naturally more dynamic and can include exposure to outdoor weather conditions, louder noise, and moving equipment. Your safety is our top priority, and you'll be expected to follow Clark Construction's safety policies and procedures, and all applicable laws, at all locations.

Our High-Performing Culture : This is a demanding, high-performance environment. We are looking for candidates who are energized by challenge, thrive under pressure, and are prepared to do what it takes to achieve exceptional results. Success in this role requires significant commitment, including flexibility to work extended hours, especially during critical project phases or client deadlines. Beyond regular working hours, there will be occasions where business needs require your attention, particularly for time-sensitive matters or emergencies. You are expected to monitor and respond to communications (phone calls, emails, text messages) as required to address these situations effectively. Your ability to manage these expectations and be responsive when critical issues arise is key to your success in this role and our collective success as a team.

A Drug Free Workplace : Clark promotes a drug free workplace. A pre-employment drug "fitness for duty" screening is required, and the company conducts random quarterly drug "fitness for duty" tests.
