General Definition of Work
Performs experienced professional level accounting work posting daily cash transactions, preparing accounts payable items for processing, maintenance of vendor details in programs such as Great Plains and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Accounting Manager and limited supervision of the Insurance Accounting and Finance Director.
Work Location : Hybrid; employee can expect to work in the ACCG Headquarters Office (Downtown Atlanta) 3-4 days per month.

Position Responsibilities
- Supports the Association's "Four Pillars" : civic engagement, leadership development, legislative advocacy, and membership services through the support of division or program staff, and interaction with local governments and authorities; exhibits knowledge and general understanding of the programs and services offered by the Association.
- Provides and exhibits outstanding customer service, teamwork, and organizational commitment that reflects well on the entire Association.
Data Entry, Recording, Reconciliation
Record cash deposits for four separate funds on a daily basis in the general ledger;Record entries for monthly billings for all funds;Create entries to transfer cash balances between funds as needed;Create and maintain daily cash log to reconcile to daily custodial balances to general ledger balance for four funds;Record and track electronic payments on a daily basis to cash accounts from payment provider (i.e. ECHO) for the Claims department;Daily research for bank for incoming ACH and check deposits for four funds. Provide details to bank regarding payment such as ACCG company and type of payment (i.e. contribution, audit contribution, claims reimbursement, fund year, etc.);Record / track and investigate any unexpected or unexplained bank charges. Communicate recommendations to Accounting Manager;Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, and on an ad hoc basis, respond to ACCG internal emails to assist with membership services or claims inquiries;Support the Accounting Manager with recording and reconciling investment activities monthly for four funds;Reconciles cash including operating and claims accounts, accounts receivable, for four funds on a monthly basis;Quarterly reconciliation of accounts receivable for four funds;Operates a variety of standard office equipment, including but not limited, to scanner, copier and adding machine;Supports the overall organization by executing the directives set forth by the Association.Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma; Associate degree program coursework in accounting, finance, insurance / risk management preferred;Moderate experience (typically 3 – 5 complete work years) with cash and transaction recording and reconciliation;Exhibited knowledge of cash receipts application and general accounting procedures;Intermediate experience with business software applications including Microsoft Dynamics.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of :
applicable accounts payable / general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures;relevant fundamentals of county government in Georgia;principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting;Demonstrated skill in :
strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills;the use of a variety of office machines and standard office software applications, specifically Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel;ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, member organizations and clients, independent auditors, third party administrators and the general public.Ability to :
operate personal computers including some knowledge of applicable software packages;understand and follow oral and written directions; establish and follow work procedures;understand and apply laws and established policies to the maintenance of financial records;perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy; prepare complete and accurate reports from various accounting data.Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands and fingers to handle and / or feel, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting;work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; no special hearing perception is required;work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately quiet location (e.g. work space in employee's home, with occasional commute or traffic).Special Requirements
Valid driver's license in the State of Georgia.
