Engineering Manager
Our client, a leading systems integrator specializing in server hardware, rack integration, and complex compute solutions, is seeking an Engineering Manager to join their team. As an Engineering Manager, you will be part of the Engineering Department, supporting the Systems Engineering team and cross-functional groups across Production, Quality, Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Automation (TALON). The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, excellent communication, and deep hardware and process expertise, which will align successfully within the organization.
Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of System Engineers in a fast-paced, highly technical environment.
Oversee NPI (New Product Introduction), First Article (FA), Engineering Change (EC), and Release-to-Manufacturing (RTM) activities for customer and internal builds.
Serve as a key customer-facing representativeleading engineering status meetings and communicating technical concepts to non-engineering stakeholders.
Drive departmental processes, standards, Work Instructions (WI), ISO 9001 documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Evaluate team skillsets and personalities; create a 90-day learning plan and an annual roadmap for capability and process enhancement.
Collaborate with Sales, Sales Ops, Solutions Engineering, QA, Automation (TALON), and Production to resolve issues and align engineering activities with business objectives.
Analyze technology, supply chain inputs, and resources to assess feasibility and ensure delivery on tight timelines.
Monitor project progress and allocate workloads based on team capability and priority.
Provide engineering metrics, departmental reports, and updates during daily production calls.
Support interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and scaling the team as the department grows from 5 to 79 engineers.
Ensure compliance with company security, information protection policies, and customer requirements.
Promote a culture of accountability, clear communication, and relationship-based leadership.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience (a degree is not mandatory with a strong hardware leadership background).
Minimum 5 years of engineering management experience leading technical teams in manufacturing, hardware engineering, or system integration.
Strong understanding of x86 server hardware, Intel-based architecture, rack integration, and system-level manufacturing.
Experience with NPI, FA, EC, RTM, or similar engineering / manufacturing lifecycle processes.
Excellent communication, presentation, and customer-facing skillsable to confidently represent the company in front of clients.
Proven ability to lead through relationships and navigate diverse personalities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong program / project management skills with emphasis on documentation, process discipline, and ISO 9001 practices.
Ability to analyze issues, troubleshoot technical challenges, and drive continuous improvement.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with ERP / PLM systems.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight schedules.
Professional, steady demeanor under pressure.
