Job description

Overview

The Head of Product, US role is charged with defining and executing a commercially focused and growth-oriented product strategy for L&G US Asset Management that supports the corporate strategy for Asset Management and the broader L&G group. This leader will design, launch, and manage market-leading, differentiated products, maximizing asset raising and revenue opportunities while delivering exceptional client outcomes and managing risks.

The role demands close collaboration across global teams, direct engagement with clients, and a commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, drive and deliver an asset raising and revenue generating product strategy that capitalizes on emerging client needs and market opportunities, with a particular focus on institutional clients
  • Manage a client‑centric offering of products in the US to enable achievement of L&G’s overall commercial strategy.
  • Ensure products throughout their lifecycle—including launches, amendments, ongoing reviews and closures—drive clear customer outcomes and are backed by concise, compelling business cases.
  • Stay ahead of market pricing, competitor innovations, evolving customer requirements and regulatory changes, using these insights to strategically evolve our product range and pricing.
  • Regularly review existing products on a commercial basis, evaluate and implement enhancements and adjustments to safeguard and grow the business.
  • Oversee the Product Review Committee (PRC) : prepare materials, run meetings, and lead day‑to‑day follow‑up actions to ensure execution and accountability.
  • Serve as the key liaison between US and other Global Product teams, employing the depth and expertise of Global resources as needed to achieve our commercial goals
  • Ensure L&G’s product activity is in line with regulatory standards and L&G’s corporate policies and the established processes within Asset Management.
  • Hire, manage, develop and retain a talented, business‑oriented product team, cultivating a culture of empowerment, collaboration and high performance.
  • Leverage digital tools, data analytics and technology platforms to inform product development, enhance client experience, and drive operational efficiency
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives and distribution partners.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record designing innovative, client‑centric products across different channels in the US market and executing a differentiated product strategy for investment managers.
  • Experience working with institutional clients in the US market, with an understanding of their unique investment needs, decision‑making processes and regulatory considerations
  • Deep commercial awareness of market dynamics, competitive landscape, and the ability to translate insight into profitable product propositions.
  • Understanding of broad range of investment strategies across asset classes and the product selection processes used in multiple client channels.
  • Strong technical expertise in US product structures and regulatory environment, combined with an appetite for staying current on industry trends and digital innovation.
  • Demonstrated leadership : experience building, inspiring and developing diverse, high‑performing teams and fostering a culture of inclusion and continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams, ideally in a matrixed or global environment.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of an organization and coordinate with global colleagues.
  • Comfortable defining and achieving ambitious KPIs, including asset growth, revenue, client adoption and satisfaction metrics.
  • Salary Range

    $160,000 - $200,000

    The starting salary offer will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s education, job‑related experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location, and market factors. This position is also eligible to participate in the company’s annual discretionary bonus plan.
