Job description

Job Title : Coordinator For Workforce Development

Compensation : $52,501 This is a fixed-term position with an end date of 06 / 30 / 2027. Employment Type : Regular Grade : E03

Position Summary

This position coordinates and liaises with industry partners to strengthen mutually beneficial relationships, promotes the Center for Workforce Development offerings, assists with student recruitment and support, and increases internships and apprenticeships as mandated by the New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) House Bill 2 (HB2) Implementation Plan.

Major Duties

  • Assists the Project Manager and Director of Continuing Education in identifying, developing, expanding, and maintaining relationships with local and remote industry partners to support the Center for Workforce Development (CWD) programs.
  • Collaborates with partners and college subject matter experts to evaluate workplace learning experiences at employer partner facilities.
  • Responsible for developing, managing, and expanding new and existing employer internship and apprenticeship contracts for the NMHED HB2 Implementation Plan.
  • Collaborates with industry partners, instructors, coordinators, and the Career Center to assist students and employers in developing internships, apprenticeships, and talent search / placement opportunities.
  • Refers prospective and current students to college and community resources to support enrollment, persistence, and completion of workforce programs.
  • Performs ongoing outreach to prospects who are not advancing through the enrollment funnel.
  • Assists students with the onboarding process for CWD Programs. Collaborates with other departments on campus as needed.
  • Leads and organizes outreach and engagement activities such as open houses, orientations, workshops to increase awareness and interest in workforce development offerings.
  • Tracks and reports data related to student recruitment, program interest, enrollment trends, and outreach activities to support strategic planning and continuous improvement.
  • Conducts economic evaluations of proposed programs and makes recommendations.
  • Oversees the generation of certificates and completion cards and their transmittal to accrediting agencies.
  • Maintains secure files and records to standards set by accrediting organizations.
  • Attends and participates in local industry events.
  • Participates in industry groups.
  • Performs related duties as requested.

  • Knowledge of standard industry and federal agency safety protocols and regulations.
  • Knowledge of college internships and apprenticeship programs.
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures.

  • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skill in working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Supervisory Controls

    The New Mexico GROWTH Project Manager assigns work according to the NMHED HB2 Implementation Plan's goals and objectives. The supervisor reviews work through conferences, reports, and observations of activities.

    Guidelines

    Guidelines include New Mexico Higher Education Department policies and procedures, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act standards, and college policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.

    Complexity / Scope of Work

  • The work involves building relationships and facilitating collaboration to identify, develop, expand, and maintain relationships with local and remote industry partners.
  • The purpose of this position is to support the NMHED House Bill 2 Implementation Plan through industry relations. Success in this position contributes to the efficient and effective education, job placement, and quality standard of practice of apprenticeships and internships of student experiences.
  • Contacts

  • Contacts are typically with industry partners, professionals, prospective students, other college personnel, faculty, staff, current students, and members of the general public.
  • Contacts are typically to identify and analyze needs, give or exchange information, resolve problems, provide services, negotiate or settle matters, or influence and motivate others.
  • Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • The work is typically performed at a desk or table or intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects.
  • The work is typically performed in an office and classroom.
  • Supervisory and Management Responsibility

    None.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division / department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division / department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.
