Under the direction of the service line and Sports Health leadership, provides community support and partnership with internal and external departments. Provides coordination, mentoring and development of the sports health staff located in the community. Responsible for community programming related to AED Education, CPR Education, and community events such as pickleball tournaments, sports symposiums, community wellness activities. Assists the medical director and orthopedic service line system director and Sports Medicine manager as requested, with the coordination of community based projects. Responsible for assisting the Sports Medicine Manager with community outreach planning Coordinates with other departments to provide services linked to the Sports Health program to ensure program objectives are met. Provides direct athletic training coverage for events at local high school; works in direct patient care 70-80% time depending on the seasonal sports health needs.
Formal Education Required :
a. Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training required; equivalent experience in strength training or nursing will be considered
Experience and Training Required :
a. Three (3) years experience of direct athletic training experience at community level.
b. Sports medicine experience through clinical background or practice management exposure preferred.
c. Experience with development of community based programs preferred.
d. Licensed by Ohio OTPTAT Board as an athletic trainer

4. Level of Physical Demands :
a. Very Heavy : Exerts in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or in excess of 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
b. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate specialized equipment and fabricate pads, splints, preventative taping / bracing, etc.
c. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
d. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
e. Requires exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment
f. Requires adequate vision and hearing to normal range
g. Must be able to continuously stand and walk; frequently squat, climb stairs, bend to the floor, reach over the shoulder, kneel, twist, sit, stand and remain in uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods of time
h. May be required to drive to other locations and support other schools
