High School Special Education Teacher (SPED) Job Duties
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for high school students with diverse learning needs
Provide specialized instruction and academic support in small groups or inclusive settings
Modify curriculum and teaching methods to meet student goals and learning styles
Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with district and state standards
Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with parents and families
Support students in transition planning and preparation for post-secondary opportunities
Federal and State Requirements
Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
Current North Carolina teaching certification with Special Education endorsement required
Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and FERPA regulations
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by North Carolina school districts
