A Brief Overview

The Medical Assistant functions as a member of the clinic patient care team. The position performs clinical tasks and procedures to support the delivery of care. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting patients to obtain services in a timely manner and ensuring efficient utilization of resources in the coordination of patient care.

The Medical Assistant II performs the duties of Medical Assistant I and acquires additional skills, policies, and procedures to complete moderate scope and complexity tasks, exercising judgment within guidelines. Performs work in an assigned area to develop expertise needed for full functionality in a specialty area / clinic.

What you will do

  • C-I-CARE practices of service and patient care
  • Use C-I-CARE templates for all communication
  • Connect with patients professionally
  • Introduce yourself and your role
  • Communicate clearly about procedures and next steps
  • Ask permission before activities
  • Respond promptly to questions and requests
  • Exit courteously with explanations
  • Perform independently all Level I duties and additional responsibilities such as managing patient portal, assisting with procedures, referrals, paperwork, and telemedicine support
  • Apply knowledge independently, prioritize tasks, and check in-basket and messages
  • Serve as a super user of the Electronic Medical Record System

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Medical Assistant Certificate / Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience Qualifications

  • 1-3 years related experience
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Effective communication
  • Proficiency in computer skills and EMR systems
  • Organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Teamwork and flexibility
  • Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS required
  • Physical Demands and Work Conditions

    Includes sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, hand use, lifting, carrying, and working around equipment and biohazards. Travel up to 20% may be required.
